This is a small bell of ok quality. The clapper is fixed to the bell in a manner in which it only really wants to swing on one axis well, so the bell rings much better one direction than if you rotate it 90 degrees and swing. It makes a noise either way. The size is nice and small and this probably doesn't have much clear volume more than a few rooms in the house away. Other than the clapper, the bell itself is fairly sturdy and heavy, and the ringing sounds like what a small bell should sound like.
